OpenBIS

OpenBIS is an open-source product of the Scientific IT Services Department of ETH. It incorporates an Electornic Laboratory Notebook, an Inventory Management and Data Management System, as well.

The training is going to cover the following aspects of the software
  1. Introduction to openBIS
  2. Elisa Dultz is sharing the user experience of the Weis research group from ETH
  3. How to manage the lab inventory of materials and samples
  4. How to manage lab protocols
  5. How to record experiments in the Electronic Lab Notebook & upload data
Target group
  • UNIBE members, students and potential users
Prerequisites 
  • Participants must bring own laptops.
  • No previous experience is required.
Methods
  • The training alternates between blocks of information and hands-on exercises.
Coaches
  • Dr. Caterina Barillari is scientific account manager in research data management at Scientific IT Services, ETH Zürich
  • Dr. Elisa Dultz is senior scientist at the Weis group (Institute of Biochemistry) of ETH & openBIS user
  • Dr. Kinga Sipos as member of the ScITS team, is giving support on openBIS to the research groups of University of Bern
