1. Usefulness of evidence synthesis: What are its applications in research, industry and clinical settings?
2. The synthesis process: what are the basic principles?
3. Navigating between search methods: What are the differences between systematic and unstructured search approaches?
4. Identification of reliable sources: how to recognize reliable sources of information within biomedical databases?
5. Database indexing: what it is and what you should know about the indexing processes in major databases, including medline.
6. Effective search strategies: what is the role of indexed terms, free text, and boolean operators in building powerful search strategies?
