Master's in Sustainability Transformations - Online Assessment (required for admission)

Welcome to the online assessment related to the Master's in Sustainability Transformations of the University of Bern's Centre for Development and Environment (CDE)!

You must complete this online assessment in order to apply for a place on the Sustainability Transformations Master’s programme that starts in autumn 2024.

The assessment is structured as follows:

• Basics of Sustainability
• Environmental Sustainability
• Social Sustainability
• Economic Sustainability
• Governance of Sustainability

The assessment consists of three different types of questions:

• Single choice: Only one option of a given set of answers is correct; points are awarded for the correct answer and no points are deducted for wrong answers.
• Multiple choice: One or more options of a given set of answers are correct; points are awarded both for ticking correct answers, as well as not ticking incorrect answers. No points are deducted for ticking incorrect answers or not ticking correct answers.
• Matching questions: Each term/statement of a given set of terms/statements has only one matching term/statement in another given set of terms/statements; points are awarded for correct matches and no points are deducted for wrong matches.

You have 35 minutes and only one attempt to complete the assessment. Please keep in mind that your attempt cannot be paused.

You may answer the questions in any order. To navigate among the questions, click on “Fragenliste an”. This will activate a menu that lists all questions. You can then jump to any question by clicking on it in the “Fragenliste” menu.

To move to the next question in the predefined order, click “Weiter”; to return to the previous question, click “Zurück”.

Please ignore the first page that appears and looks similar to the screenshot below and click on ‘Fortsetzen’.

Once you have answered all questions, submit your answers by clicking “Test beenden”. You will be asked whether you really want to submit your answers; note that if you do, you will not be able to return to the test. If you are ready to submit, click “Ja, ich will den Test beenden”. If you prefer to return to the questions, click “Nein, ich will zur letzten Antwort zurückgehen”.

Please export your results after completing the assessment. The resulting report forms a mandatory part of your application dossier. Instructions on how to export your results will appear once you have completed the assessment.
