Large computing clusters for scientific and engineering calculations are almost all based on Linux servers and batch submission software. In this course a deeper understanding and efficient usage of such systems is achieved.
Learning outcomes - participants can
- Understand how HPC systems work
- Find information about available resources on HPC systems
- Design and submit efficient computing tasks
- Run massive parallel tasks
- UNIBE staff, students and potential users involved in scientific research or engineering
- Researchers and engineers wishing to learn how to use a Linux HPC system
- Prospective or current users of any Linux computing facility
- Participants must bring own laptops and should have a minimal Linux knowledge (see training Introduction to Linux) and experience with HPC systems (see High Performance Computing training).
- Activated UBELIX account (campus account needed): https://docs.id.unibe.ch/ubelix/ubelix-101/account-activation
- The training alternates between short theoretical introductions and online practice.
- A certificate will be delivered to participants who have attended the whole training.
- The coaches are local or external experts.
