Let students self-assess their knowledge of a topic

SCENARIO

Let students self-assess their knowledge of a topic

SITUATION

  • Students should reflect on and assess their own knowledge

IMPLEMENTATION

Example from the central administration

  • A survey is created
  • Students can select one or more answers
  • Lecturers can view the overall results; this gives them an overview of the self-assessed knowledge of the group and, if necessary, they can select or adapt the teaching content in the classroom sessions accordingly
Student perspective: filling out the survey
Display of the survey results

Example from the Faculty of Humanities

  • One or more self-evaluations are created
  • A scale and feedback are defined for all questions in a self-evaluation
  • Students select one answer per question
Students can view their results and the corresponding feedback on their overall result after completion; this gives them an estimate of their level of knowledge and allows them to adjust their study behavior accordingly
  • Lecturers can see who has started and completed the self-evaluation and view the results with feedback for each participant, allowing them to address the needs of individual participants if necessary.
The scale is defined in the self-evaluation settings
When creating questions, it is possible to select whether the scale should be reversed
Any number of feedbacks can be added
Student perspective: Conducting the self-evaluation
Overview of all questions in the self-evaluation
Student perspective: display of own results with corresponding feedback
