SCENARIO

Submit video and audio recordings with Opencast Studio

SITUATION

  • Students are required to submit their assignments in video or audio format.
  • Examples:
    - A short presentation of a bachelor’s thesis topic as a screencast/PowerPoint recording
    - A short presentation of group project results (webcam recording)
  • Students use the browser-based recording tool Opencast Studio and record on their own devices.

IMPLEMENTATION

  • The "Record" functionality is enabled in the "Permissions" tab of the object Video(Opencast series). Students will then see the "Opencast Studio" button.
  • Students select the desired sources in their browser (screen, webcam, audio) and start and stop the recording. The recording is automatically uploaded to the Opencast series from which Opencast Studio was launched.
  • Optionally, additional didactic functions can be enabled in the Opencast series settings (e.g. enable annotations, set permissions for individual recordings).
Activate the functionality in the "Permissions" tab.
Select video sources, allow permissions in the browser if necessary, and start recording.
The browser recordings are saved directly to the Opencast series.
